Foresthill High School, Foresthill

Client: Lionakis Beaumont Design Group

Parcel Size: N/A Building Size: 8,938 SF

Located northeast of Auburn in rural Placer County, Foresthill is a beautiful mountain town with fewer than 2000 residents. However land values are on the rise, new homes are being built in the forest and the new high school makes education a unique mountaintop experience.

RSC Engineering was called upon to provide civil engineering services for the new addition to Foresthill High School. The addition is built on existing school property to the east of the main school facility, and had to meet standards provided by the school district.

The school’s amphitheater outside the main theater building had an outdoor stage with a high entry and an exit door near the bottom of the building. The vertical relief of the school’s site made grading tricky and good drainage essential to avoid flooding the building. RSC overcame these challenges with an innovative grading plan and a special drainage system.

RSC Engineering provided comprehensive engineering services including:

  • Coordinating preliminary design between the architect and school district
  • Preparing preliminary opinion of cost
  • Preparing and processing full onsite construction documents
  • Processing the civil plans through DSA in conjunction with the architect
